To give is to participate in the life of Christ Himself, who said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Your offering does not simply cover material needs — it becomes part of the mystery of healing and

salvation, strengthening the Body of Christ both in New Zealand and across the Pacific Islands.

The Orthodox Church in New Zealand is still taking root, growing steadily yet with many needs. Our churches long for more active clergy, our young people seek camps and activities to nurture them in faith and fellowship. Without these, Orthodoxy risks being a tree planted in shallow soil — alive, but vulnerable.

The Metropolis is therefore not an optional structure, but the very heart of the Church’s life, ensuring that our faith is not scattered or fragile, but apostolic, visible, and whole.

To support the Metropolis is to support the unity of the Church, the preaching of the Gospel, and the passing on of the Orthodox faith to the next generation. Your gift helps to form and sustain clergy, nurture the youth, and strengthen the foundation of Orthodoxy in this land, so that the Church in New Zealand may grow into maturity and bear lasting fruit.

The Orthodox Mission in the Pacific Islands is young and fragile, yet full of hope. In Fiji, the Church cares for children in a home that shelters and raises them with love in Christ. Across Tonga, Samoa, and other islands, chapels are being built, liturgical texts are being translated, and catechumens are discovering Orthodoxy for the first time.

Here, charity becomes concrete: a roof over a child’s head, a meal on the table, the Gospel in a new tongue, a priest to serve the Divine Liturgy. St. Basil the Great reminds us: “The bread you keep belongs to the hungry.” Every gift to the Mission is a gift directly to Christ Himself, who said: “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:40)
